New Progress Tutor to give UCM students dedicated support to achieve their goals

Students at UCM (University College Isle of Man) will benefit from a new Pastoral provision following the appointment of experienced education professional Sarah Strickett.

Sarah, who has been appointed as progress tutor, will deliver cross-college tutorials, coach students with individualised support and undertake learner progress reviews.

With extensive experience supporting students aged 16–19, Sarah’s understanding of the range of issues that can affect young people during an important period of their education will further develop the support available to learners at UCM.

In her previous roles, Sarah has supported young people with additional needs and a range of social, emotional and behavioural needs, giving her extensive experience of creating inclusive environments where learners feel valued and supported.

Her previous roles include Senior Education Support Officer at both St Ninian’s High School and Henry Bloom Noble Primary School, as well as youth work and outreach roles supporting young people with disabilities and additional needs.

The Progress Tutor role forms part of UCM’s wider commitment to supporting students not only to succeed in their studies, but also to develop the confidence, skills and resilience they need for their next steps.

UCM is currently recruiting for a second progress tutor, details of which can be found on the Isle of Man Government’s JobTrain website.
